What is DEFIS ?

DEFIS (De l’Enseignement du Français à l’Insertion par le Sport) is a language program aimed at B1 level, certified by the DELF B1 exam, geared towards careers in social and sports activities. Its objective is to train newly arrived immigrants who are unemployed and beneficiaries of international protection, and to guide them towards training or employment in the fields of sports and recreation. The program is part-time (3 days per week) and free of charge for participants (funded by the Prefecture, the Metropolis of Lyon, and the City of Lyon). The last session of the program took place from November 17, 2025, to February 5, 2025.

How can I join the program ?

Here are the steps to join the DEFIS program : 1. Fill out the program registration form and validate the prerequisites 2. Following a phone call, Kabubu will invite you to attend a group information session and take a French test to validate your French language level (A2 oral and written) 3. An interview will be conducted to assess your motivation and needs 4. If these steps are validated, your registration will be confirmed and you will be able to participate in the program. Why the LIA program ?

The DEFIS language program has two objectives : to help participants achieve level B1 in French, which is required for access to employment and a wide range of training courses, and to discover and expand their vocabulary related to sports and social activities. This will equip participants with the language skills they need to explore careers in sports and social activities.

FRENCH LANGUAGE TRAINING FOR PROFESSIONALS

- 70 hours of French as a foreign language (FLE) to progress from level A2 to level B1, including preparation for the DELF exam - 42 hours of French for specific purposes (FOS): French lessons focused on careers in sports and social activities

SOCIO-PROFESSIONAL SUPPORT MADE TO MEASURE

- Professional development workshops - Workshops on accessing rights - Meetings with sports and entertainment professionals - Personalized support for participants to help them with their career plans

SPORTS ACTIVITIES

One sports session per week to apply and appropriate the content covered in French lessons, but also to re-mobilise the body and prepare for entry into the job market.

The DEFIS program prepares participants to access qualifying training (CQP, CPJEPS, BPJEPS) in social or sports activities, or to find employment directly in these fields.

Kabubu and Habitat et Humanisme Rhône are the two partners in the program. The roles of the two training organizations are as follows: 

 

Kabubu is responsible for managing the program, providing social and professional support, and offering French courses with specific objectives and professional development workshops.

Habitat et Humanisme Rhône is responsible for French language courses (FLE) and preparation for the DELF exam.
